We had been at Alegrķas talking trash when Elvira opted out of her ticket to Luis Miguel's fourth and last sold out show at Radio City Music Hall. The show was at eight and it was already 7:30 PM. I would barely have enough time to pick up my camera an get to the show on time. We walked a few blocks to my house and then Rosa offered to drop Eddie and I off at the hall. Radio City is at 50th Street; right up 6th Avenue from the Village. We hit some traffic on the way up, and we wanted to be on time, so we jumped out of the car about a block from Radio City. The marquee already looked enormous from blocks away. On the 50th Street the Marquee read LUIS MIGUEL IN CONCERT. On the 6th Avenue Side it Read "LUIS MIGUEL EN CONCIERTO". Eddie said he would pick up the tickets and that I should wait for P. Antonio. Eddie came back with three tickets in Row DD. I looked the ticket location up on the plan that was posted on a wall of the lobby while we waited for Pio Antonio to arrive. The tickets were center stage in the fourth row. I also noticed the sign that said NO PHOTOGRAPHS DURING THE PERFORMANCE. P. Antonio arrived at about 8:20.

We went to the bathroom first, then to the bar for a quick Tequila (Eddie is Mexican). By the time we entered the room the show had begun. There was a translucent curtain behind which the shadows of the musician could be seen. Patterns of light were projected on the curtain. As we were being seated the room was darkened suddenly and the curtain disappeared.

Luis Miguel appeared, dressed in a black 3 button suit and tie. His voice towering over the band. He had 3 clothing changes during the hour and a half show.

The pictures were taken with available light, while trying not to be seen by the security personnel, with a Sony Mavica 91 FD digital camera. Most of them are exposed at f2.8 at 1/60th of a second. That's two heart beats (pump pump) of time. The first two are shot at +1.5 EV. I shot over 100 phots but only half of them made the cut. The following are 53 photographs that I thought you would enjoy. The outtakes are wonderful, full of movement, and mostly out of focus.

On the suggestion of someone, I have decided to put-up less pictures rather than more. I like to post more pictures rather than less. What do you think about it? E-mail your opinion. Click here for More Photos and click here for Less Photos .
